BTS Top 20 (as of 4/21/24)
1.) Seneca Valley (11-0) Previous Rank: 1
Seneca Valley and Lexie Hames (BTS #1 returning player in 6A) went 3-0 over the past week without allowing a run. In fact, opposing teams have only been able to muster a measly 6 runs over 11 games.
2.) Cumberland Valley (8-0) Previous Rank: 6
Cumberland Valley continues to climb in our top 10 following another 3 win week which saw CV outscore opponents 36-6. The Eagles lineup is as potent as you will find in the state and Sydney May is proving to be a bonafide ace in the circle.
3.) Downingtown West (11-0) Previous Rank: HM
The Whippets just completed a massive 4 win week, including a thrilling 1-0 win in extra innings against rival Downingtown East. Addy Carter has been dominant from the circle as West outscored opponents 24-0 over their last 4 games and have surrendered just 1 run over their previous 10 games.
4.) Quakertown (10-0) Previous Rank: 5
The Quakertown lineup continues to hammer the ball, scoring 46 runs in 4 wins last week. Ava Beal (#3 player in 6A) and Leah Schwalm (#8 player in 6A) continue to be a dynamic duo, causing nightmares for opposing pitchers.
5.) Juniata (9-0) Previous Rank: 9
Juniata appears poised to make another deep run in the state tournament this year. Elizabeth Gaisior is a force to be reckoned with in the circle, as evidenced by the fact her Juniata squad has allowed just 3 runs over 9 games played.
6.) Downingtown East (9-1) Previous Rank: 2
Rachel Schumann and the Cougars bounced back in convincing fashion following a heartbreaking 1-0 extra innings loss to rivals Downingtown West, as they outscored opponents 29-0 in their next 2 games. Despite the loss to West, the Cougars are still a powerhouse.
7.) Hempfield Area (8-1) Previous Rank: 7
Riley Miller (#4 player in 6A) and the Spartans continue to dominate after an early season loss to Seneca Valley. The Spartans went 4-0 last week without surrendering a run. Another key matchup looms for Hempfield Area this week, as they take on Elizabeth Forward.
8.) Elizabeth Forward (9-0) Previous Rank: NR
Shelby Telegdy (BTS Top 60 Athlete) and the Lady Warriors have been on a roll of late, outscoring opponents 100-0 over their last 7 games. A huge matchup with Hempfield Area is on the horizon and should tell us a lot about the Elizabeth Forward squad moving forward.
9.) North Penn (9-2) Previous Rank: 3
A 2-0 loss to Neshaminy drops North Penn in this weeks’ rankings, but Gianna Cimino (#7 player in 6A) and the defending state champs are still one of the most talented teams in the state.
10.) Meyersdale (11-0) Previous Rank: HM
Izabella Donaldson (#1 player in 1A) and Meyersdale crack the top 10 for the first time this year after starting the season 11-0 and outscoring opponents 131-10.
